Overview
- Chief Secretary Rajesh Kumar issued a government resolution directing officers at all levels to rise, greet and use polite language with visiting MPs and MLAs, including during phone calls.
- Offices must keep a separate register of legislators’ letters and send a final reply within two months, with written escalation and quarterly reviews by department heads if delays occur.
- Regional and district heads must reserve two hours on the first and third Thursday each month for meetings with elected representatives, while urgent matters can be taken up any time during office hours.
- All local legislators must be invited to inaugurations and foundation-stone events with correct names and protocol seating, and major programmes should be avoided when the Legislature or Parliament is in session.
- Non-compliance will draw action under Maharashtra Civil Services Rules and the 2005 anti-delay law, departments must provide public-welfare information free unless barred by the RTI Act, follow privilege directions, update websites, and add protocol training modules.
