Maharashtra Opens Dharavi Experience Centre to Show Redevelopment Plans

The centre is designed to give residents clear, walk‑through previews and administrative help so they can learn how housing, workspaces and riverfront plans will affect their lives.

Overview

  • Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated the 22,500-square-foot Dharavi Experience Centre on October 2, 2026 to present the proposed redevelopment to residents in a tangible way.
  • The facility features life-size sample flats of 350 sq ft and 500 sq ft, a 3D township walkthrough and interactive displays that illustrate planned housing, a multimodal transport hub, parks and a 3.3 km riverfront.
  • Project authorities say eligible residential tenement holders will receive 350 sq ft of carpet area free in the Dharavi Notified Area and that eligibility is being determined through ongoing door-to-door and mapped surveys.
  • Execution of the redevelopment has been assigned to Adani Navbharat Developers under a reported joint-venture structure with the state holding 20% and the Adani Group 80%, while the DRP/SRA remains the government implementing body.
  • Officials describe the centre as a trust-building step to preserve Dharavi’s dense live-work economy, to give small manufacturers planned workspaces, and to help residents complete survey and rehabilitation paperwork before construction begins.
