As many as 373 FIRs have been registered against Bangladeshi nationals, with 589 arrested, 532 deported, and 237 convicted since January this year.

Overview

  • Three Bangladeshi nationals were arrested in Ahilyanagar on June 27 after military intelligence tipped off police to their use of forged Aadhaar and PAN cards while working at a Pokhardi construction site.
  • MIDC Police in Mumbai and Pune detained seven more Bangladeshi migrants, including six women, during raids targeting a suspected trafficking ring led by Bayazid Ayub Sheikh.
  • Authorities have seized forged Aadhaar and PAN cards and registered FIRs to probe links to larger forgery rackets and anti-national elements.
  • Interrogations are under way to identify additional network members and uncover labour exploitation and forced prostitution operations.
  • Deportation proceedings have been initiated for all detainees as part of a broader national crackdown on undocumented Bangladeshi migrants.
