Maharashtra Moves MHT-CET, MBA/MMS CET to Twice-Yearly Format From 2026

Officials say the shift mirrors JEE Main to give students a second chance.

Overview

  • For the 2026–27 cycle, two sessions are scheduled in April and May 2026, with detailed timetables to be issued by the CET Cell.
  • Appearing in at least one session will be mandatory, a second attempt will be optional, and the higher score will be used for admission.
  • The two-attempt model will also apply to the MBA/MMS CET beginning with the same cycle.
  • To run twice-yearly exams, the state plans to expand computer-based testing from about 7,000 to 20,000 systems, open roughly 40 district help centres, and recruit permanent CET staff.
  • From 2027–28, the exams are expected to be spaced farther apart on a JEE-like calendar, with the first session likely in January and the second in April.
