• Guidelines require Zilla Parishad schools to host Anganwadi centres in unused ground-floor classrooms located within one kilometre.
• Centres will gain access to school kitchens, washrooms, drinking water, sports equipment and outdoor space.
• The Women and Child Development Department will allocate funds for repairs, painting and essential infrastructure upgrades.
• Maharashtra has 110,048 Anganwadi centres under the ICDS scheme, over 21,000 of which currently rent space and face utility and sanitation challenges.
