Maharashtra Man Arrested for Wife's Gruesome Murder After Skull Found in Bag

Police in Palghar district apprehended Harish Hippargi after linking evidence from a travel bag containing a skull to a two-month-old murder case.

Harish Hippargi, 49, was arrested in Nalasopara, Maharashtra, for allegedly killing his wife, Utpala, on January 8, 2025, following frequent domestic disputes.
The crime was uncovered after police discovered a severed skull in a travel bag near Virar, along with evidence linking the victim to a West Bengal jewelry store.
Hippargi reportedly strangled Utpala during an argument, dismembered her body, and disposed of the torso and head in separate locations to conceal the crime.
The accused misled his 22-year-old stepson by claiming Utpala had returned to her hometown in West Bengal, while he went into hiding and changed residences.
Authorities are continuing their investigation and searching for Utpala's torso as additional evidence is gathered in the case.
