Maharashtra Launches Statewide Health Screening Drive for Over 1.66 Crore Children
The initiative, under the Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram, aims to identify and treat various health issues in children aged 0-18, providing free medical care for those in need.
- Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar inaugurated the campaign at Indira Gandhi Model School in Pune, alongside other state officials and leaders.
- The health screening drive will cover over 1.66 crore children across Maharashtra, including 14 lakh students from schools and 20 lakh children from Anganwadis.
- Comprehensive examinations will identify conditions such as anemia, dental issues, heart diseases, tuberculosis, mental health disorders, and congenital disabilities, with free treatment provided under government health schemes.
- The initiative is a collaborative effort involving the Public Health Department, Education Department, Tribal Development Department, and Urban Development Department to ensure widespread implementation.
- Special attention will be given to developmental delays, learning disabilities, and adolescent mental health, with referrals to District Early Intervention Centres and counseling as needed.
