Overview

  • On July 17, Minister Yogesh Kadam ordered police and enforcement agencies to identify, monitor and shut down unauthorised cattle slaughterhouses across Maharashtra under the new drive
  • The government plans to amend the 1995 Animal Preservation Act to double prison sentences for repeat cow slaughter offenders from five to ten years, with a draft bill expected in the upcoming legislative session
