Maharashtra Inks Nine MoUs Worth ₹80,962 Crore for Steel and Battery-Materials Projects

State leaders pair the investment push with new digitisation directives to reduce clearances and speed industrial approvals.

  • The pacts were signed at the AIIFA Steel Mahakumbh in Goregaon, Mumbai, attended by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Union minister Pralhad Joshi and industries minister Uday Samant.
  • Officials said the proposals span Raigad, Wardha, Gadchiroli, Chandrapur, Nagpur, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and Satara, with more than 40,300 jobs projected.
  • Jindal Stainless plans a ₹41,580 crore stainless steel plant in Raigad with about 15,500 jobs, while Rashmi Metallurgical will invest ₹25,000 crore in an integrated steel plant in Wardha expected to employ 12,000 people.
  • NPSPL Advanced Material (Atha Group) will set up a ₹5,440 crore lithium battery material and carbon complex in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and Gadchiroli will host Sumedh Tools and Hariom Pipe projects totalling ₹5,135 crore.
  • The government is moving to cut clearances through digitisation and AI-based single-window permissions, and it has begun direct electronic disbursal of ₹80.53 crore in library grants to 10,546 public libraries.
