Overview
- The Maharashtra government has formally executed an MoU with Atal Solutions and European export credit agencies to secure €12 million in funding and risk cover for ITI modernisation.
- Implementation partners including Atal Solutions, the Rural Enhancer Group of India, JNPT and the Maharashtra Maritime Board will now plan upgrades and procure cutting-edge training equipment.
- Six ITIs in Mumbai, Pune, Baramati, Sindhudurg, Nagpur and Nashik will receive simulation labs, international curricula, expert-led trainers and certification programmes.
- The programme aims to enroll between 5,000 and 7,000 students annually in maritime transport and logistics courses aligned with national education reforms and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
- By addressing manpower needs for expansions at JNPT, Vadhavan Port and other hubs, the initiative seeks to position Maharashtra as a global centre for port and logistics skill development.
