Maharashtra Developers Seek Deregistration of 19 Real Estate Projects
Prominent developers cite financial challenges, legal disputes, and regulatory changes as reasons for deregistration requests across major cities in the state.
- Developers including Lodha Group, K Raheja Corp, Puranik, and Lokhandwala Infrastructure have applied to deregister 19 projects in Maharashtra.
- The projects span cities such as Mumbai, Thane, Pune, Nashik, Nagpur, Kolhapur, and Daman, with a significant concentration in Pune.
- The Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA) has opened a 30-day window for public objections to these deregistration applications.
- Developers are allowed to seek deregistration due to factors such as lack of funds, economic non-viability, ongoing litigation, family disputes, or restrictive government norms.
- Since MahaRERA's inception in 2017, over 47,000 projects have been registered in Maharashtra, with 138 projects deregistered to date.
