Maharashtra Declares Jan. 15 Public Holiday for Civic Polls in 29 Municipal Corporations

The election commission says polling arrangements, including EVMs, are ready.

  • State Election Commissioner Dinesh Waghmare ordered adequate staffing and mandatory training for polling and counting personnel, warning action against officials who skip sessions.
  • Polling sites must provide electricity, drinking water, toilets, shade, ramps and wheelchairs with priority for seniors, persons with disabilities, pregnant women and other vulnerable voters, and campaigning ends at 5:30 pm on January 13 with a ban on election ads thereafter.
