Overview

  • The Maharashtra government owes contractors over ₹80,000 crore for completed work, with ₹38,000 crore pending in the Public Works Department.
  • Contractors halted all state development projects on February 5 after payment clearances plunged due to the Ladki Bahin Scheme.
  • Association president Milind Bhosale said payment clearance rates fell from around 40% before the scheme to about 10% afterward.
  • The association filed a petition in the Bombay High Court against the Rural Development Department and says it will take similar action against the Public Works Department if dues remain unpaid.
  • The group will launch statewide protests starting June 10 if the government fails to settle the overdue payments.
