The sender, identifying as Malik Shahbaz Humayun Raja Dev, warned of an attack and claimed the attacker would disguise their religious identity.
The threat was sent to the Mumbai Traffic Police's WhatsApp number, prompting heightened security around the CM's office and other key locations.
Authorities are investigating the sender's location and potential links to terrorist organizations or lone-wolf plots.
This follows a recent death threat via email to Deputy CM Eknath Shinde, for which two suspects were arrested earlier this month.
