Maharashtra Closes Engineering Admissions With 166,746 Seats Filled

Higher capacity drove a rise in admissions alongside persistent vacancies.

  • Of 2,02,883 BE/BTech seats statewide, 1,66,746 were filled, leaving just over 36,000 vacant.
  • Computer engineering enrolled 27,995 students, and newer CSE specialisations such as AI, data science and cybersecurity recorded over 85–90% occupancy.
  • After four CAP rounds closed on September 5 with 60,000-plus vacancies, institute-level and management rounds filled more than half as candidates reshuffled.
  • Pune led region-wise admissions with 70,251, followed by Mumbai at 31,930, with Amravati lowest at 7,996.
  • The share of female students rose to 37.30% (62,196), up from 35.38% last year, with Mumbai’s female admits increasing to 10,013.
