Maharashtra Clears Gati Shakti–Backed Route for 204-Km Nagpur–Chandrapur Expressway
Officials say the change trims the route’s forest footprint by about 27 hectares.
Overview
- The approved corridor runs from the Seldo/Seladoh interchange on the Samruddhi Mahamarg to Navegaon (Mor), with a 192 km mainline and an 11 km link to Chandrapur retained.
- The Cabinet Infrastructure Committee chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis adopted recommendations from the Centre’s Gati Shakti Portal for the revised alignment.
- Fadnavis directed immediate measures to ease congestion on Pune’s Hadapsar–Yavat stretch, including consideration of an elevated corridor and fixes near Bhairoba Nala.
- The chief minister mandated that all ongoing and proposed infrastructure projects secure Gati Shakti Portal clearance before being placed before the committee.
- The panel extended deadlines for privatisation or redevelopment of specified Mumbai land parcels, launched the ‘Zebru’ road-safety mascot highlighting pedestrian rights, and received instructions from Deputy CM Eknath Shinde on regulating footpath encroachment removal.
