Maharashtra Clears 66.15-Km 'Nashik Parikrama' Ring Road for 2027 Kumbh

Maharashtra now moves to tender the project pending a Centre–state pact on civil works.

Overview

  • The State Cabinet Committee on Infrastructure approved the project and named MSIDC as the executing agency, with administrative clearance also issued by the Nashik–Trimbakeshwar Kumbh Mela Authority.
  • The state sanctioned Rs 3,659.47 crore for land acquisition to be routed through the Kumbh Authority, while a Centre–state MoU on the Rs 4,262.64 crore civil-works component is still pending.
  • Officials indicated tenders will be floated shortly, and the Kumbh Mela Authority set March 2027 as the target for completion.
  • To recoup costs estimated at about Rs 8,000 crore, authorities kept the option of tolling open with revenue sharing between the state and the Centre.
  • The road is intended to ease congestion and support long-term connectivity and logistics in Nashik, with 2027 attendance projections ranging from nearly 2 crore to over 5 crore visitors.
