Maharashtra Clears 53.4-Km PuneShirur Corridor With 3-Year Deadline

The decision moves the projects into land acquisition with a 7.4 km road–metro viaduct slated for joint construction.

Overview

  • The Cabinet Committee on Infrastructure approved a 53.4 km PuneShirur highway combining a four-lane at-grade road with a six-lane elevated expressway.
  • A 7.4 km section will use a stacked viaduct to carry road and metro, to be built jointly by MahaMetro and the state infrastructure development corporation.
  • Two six-lane links in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar were cleared—32.8 km ShendraBidkin and 26 km Bidkin–Dhoregaon—with immediate land acquisition ordered.
  • In-principle approval was granted for a greenfield six-lane connector from the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar–Jalna DMIC node at Karmad to the Samruddhi Expressway via Bidkin.
  • Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis set a three-year completion target and ordered urgent repairs to the Sambhajinagar–Ahilyanagar road, citing heavy industrial traffic on the corridor.
