Overview
- The cabinet has increased allowances for more than 58,000 tribal students in 490 state-run hostels, adding an estimated ₹83.66 crore to annual education support spending.
- Subsistence stipends increased to ₹1,400 at divisional hostels, ₹1,300 at district hostels and ₹1,000 at taluka and rural hostels, with the girls’ allowance rising to ₹150 from ₹100.
- Annual educational material grants surged to ₹4,500 for Classes 8–10, ₹5,000 for Classes 11–12 and diploma courses, ₹5,700 for degree programs and ₹8,000 for medical and engineering students.
- Monthly food allowances rose to ₹5,000 for hostels in municipal and divisional cities and ₹4,500 for district-level facilities.
- The cabinet also allocated ₹862.29 crore for the Koyna Dam Base Power Plant (Left Bank) Hydroelectric Project to expand the state’s hydropower capacity.
