Overview
- Under the revised scheme, beneficiaries jailed for more than one month now receive Rs 20,000 per month and those jailed for less than a month receive Rs 10,000.
- Surviving spouses of deceased detainees can claim half the honorarium by submitting fresh applications to district collectors within 90 days.
- The cabinet also removed the minimum age-at-arrest requirement, allowing those arrested as minors to apply.
- The government has earmarked Rs 28 crore to fund pensions for approximately 3,782 recognized detainees from April 2025 through January 2026.
