Maharashtra Cabinet Clears MHADA-Led Overhaul of SVP Nagar, Redeveloping 4,973 Homes

The scheme proceeds under DCPR 33(9) with a single developer chosen by a high‑power panel.

Overview

  • The cabinet approved on September 23 a redevelopment plan covering 4,973 flats across 498 plots in SVP Nagar, Andheri West, to be executed by MHADA.
  • Implementation will follow the DCPR 33(9) C&D agency model, allowing MHADA to appoint a single developer without collecting individual consent letters.
  • A High-Power Committee headed by the Housing Department’s Additional Chief Secretary will set tender terms, select the developer, monitor progress and resolve issues with MHADA and BMC officials.
  • All eligible occupants will be rehabilitated in new flats matching their current carpet area, with transit rent or alternate accommodation provided during construction.
  • The plan envisions a township with schools, healthcare facilities, commercial zones and upgraded utilities featuring solar power, rainwater harvesting and waste systems, while MHADA projects ₹2,096.96 crore from saleable stock and extra built-up area.
