Maharashtra Cabinet Clears Bamboo Industry Policy 2025 With Rs 50,000 Crore Investment Goal

A five-year rollout uses subsidies, clusters, an ADB-linked pilot and technology upgrades to build a modern bamboo value chain.

Overview

  • The cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, approved the policy on October 14 with targets of over five lakh jobs and large-scale private investment over the coming decade.
  • The government sanctioned Rs 1,534 crore for near-term execution, set a Rs 11,797 crore outlay over 20 years and allocated Rs 50 crore for the current fiscal to begin implementation.
  • Fifteen dedicated clusters with anchor units and Common Facility Centres will be created, with micro CFCs planned in remote areas to support artisans and small producers.
  • Financial measures include interest, electricity duty and stamp duty concessions, a Rs 300 crore venture capital fund for startups and MSMEs, and a proposed PLI scheme for bamboo-based industries.
  • A nearly Rs 4,271 crore Asian Development Bank–linked pilot will help FPOs produce quality saplings and access technical guidance, alongside plans for plantations on public and wasteland areas and 5–7% bamboo biomass use in thermal plants.
