Overview

  • The cabinet sanctioned the project at a total cost of ₹2,528.9 crore, combining state funds with a ₹1,500 crore HUDCO loan.
  • MSRDC will soon begin land acquisition and oversee construction along the route through Palghar (Dahanu, Vikramgad, Jawhar, Mokhada) and Nashik (Trimbakeshwar, Igatpuri) districts.
  • The direct link will cut the distance between Vadhavan Port and the Samruddhi Expressway from 183.48 km to 104.898 km and reduce transit time from up to five hours to about 1–1.5 hours.
  • This corridor is part of Maharashtra’s Sagarmala-aligned expansion under the PM Gati Shakti plan to decongest existing routes and strengthen national freight connectivity.
  • Officials say the new expressway is expected to boost industrial, agricultural and IT sector growth and create employment opportunities in adjoining regions.
