Maharashtra Approves UttanVirar Sea Link Extension to Vadhavan Port in Regionwide Infra Push

  • Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis’s infrastructure committee cleared the extension of the proposed UttanVirar Sea Link to Vadhavan Port, presenting it as a step to ease north–south traffic across Mumbai.
  • The sea link package specifies a 55.12 km project with a 24.35 km main bridge and connecting roads of 9.32 km from Uttan, 2.5 km from Vasai and 18.95 km from Virar to reach the port.
  • The panel approved a 66‑km inner ring road for Nashik with land acquisition sanctioned, costs to be borne by the Nashik–Trimbakeshwar Kumbh Mela Authority, and a completion window between March and June 2027.
  • Pune Metro directives include upgrading trains to six coaches and setting targets for key stretches: PCMCNigdi by January 2027, SwargateKatraj by March 2029, and Vanaz–Chandni Chowk plus Ramwadi–Wagholi/Vitthalwadi by July 2029.
  • Officials ordered immediate land acquisition for the KharadiHadapsarSwargate–Khadakwasla corridor and planned tunnel links from Hadapsar to Loni Kalbhor and Saswad toward the proposed Purandar Airport, aligning with wider coastal and highway works under way.
