Maharashtra Approves Solar and EV Mechanic Courses Across 70 ITIs and Establishes Advanced ITI in Chembur

They are slated for the 2025–26 academic year with expert-guided curricula aligned to industry demand under the National Education Policy.

  • The Union Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship has approved Solar Technician (Electric) and EV Mechanic courses for 70 government-run ITIs across Maharashtra.
  • A Government Advanced ITI in Chembur has been cleared to offer programs for Scheduled Caste and Neo-Buddhist trainees from the 2025–26 academic year, including Refrigeration & Air Conditioning, Electrician, Wireman, IoT Technician, and Electric Mechanic.
  • Curriculum updates for the new courses were formulated based on recommendations from Dr. Raghunath Mashelkar and MITRA CEO Praveen Pardeshi to ensure industry relevance.
  • The state plans to upgrade infrastructure and expand course offerings at 36 district-level ITIs in partnership with private industries to meet rising demand for green energy and electric vehicle technicians.
  • These measures form part of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis’s initiative under the National Education Policy to modernize vocational training and boost employability in renewable energy sectors.
