Maharashtra Approves Rs1.35 Lakh Crore in High-Tech and Thrust Sector Projects

Overview

  • A Cabinet subcommittee led by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis cleared special incentives for 17 mega and ultra-mega projects worth Rs1.35 lakh crore, with an expected creation of about 100,000 direct and indirect jobs.
  • Approved investments span priority areas including semiconductors, electric vehicles, lithium-ion batteries, green steel, defence equipment and textiles.
  • The number of sectors eligible for state incentives rose from 22 to 30 after adding new categories such as coal gasification and downstream derivatives.
  • Support measures comprise capital subsidies, electricity tariff and interest rate concessions, industrial promotion subsidies and refunds of state and employee provident fund contributions.
  • Land acquisition and allocation in Dapchari and Vankas in Palghar district were sanctioned to secure project sites under the new approvals.
