Maharashtra Approves Four New Mumbai Police Stations, Two Zones, Three ACP Divisions

The decision aims to speed police response in dense suburbs through redrawn boundaries, with activation to occur in phases.

Overview

  • A Government Resolution dated December 12 formalized the creation of Maharashtra Nagar, Golibar, Madh Marve and Asalpha police stations along with two new zones and three ACP divisions under the Mumbai Police Commissionerate.
  • The state sanctioned 1,448 posts for the new stations with recurring expenditure of Rs 124.13 crore and non-recurring expenditure of Rs 7.39 crore, plus 34 posts for the zones and 30 for the ACP divisions with separate approved costs.
  • Jurisdictions will be carved from existing units: Maharashtra Nagar from Bhandup and Parksite, Golibar from Vakola and Nirmal Nagar, Madh Marve from Malvani, and Asalpha from Ghatkopar and Sakinaka.
  • Two additional deputy commissioner-led zones will raise the number of police divisions from 13 to 15, part of a restructuring intended to balance workloads and improve supervision.
  • Officials say operationalisation will proceed in stages after recruitment and infrastructure steps, and reports differ on the city’s total station count after the changes.
