Overview

• The cabinet sub-committee approved procurement of 268 fully air-conditioned, closed-door rakes under MUTP 3 and 3A with fares held at current levels, pending central approval to begin purchases.
• A 16-km fully underground Wadala–Gateway of India Metro Line 11 costing about ₹24,000 crore will be funded by JICA, with a BEST joint commercial complex planned for additional revenue.
• A 25-km elevated corridor linking Thane to the MumbMumbai International Airport will be built by CIDCO for ₹6,430 crore, with permissions targeted in six months and construction expected to take about three years.
• The state cleared third and fourth tracks on the Pune–Lonavala suburban corridor and sanctioned two Phase I Pune Metro stations at Balajinagar–Bibwewadi and Swargate–Katraj.
• Nagpur will get a new ring road and a planned township as part of the wider transport and urban development package.
