Overview
- The Maharashtra cabinet, which met Tuesday, cleared upgrades for 24 aided ashram schools to expand access for tribal students.
- Five primary ashram schools will add secondary classes and 19 secondary schools will add junior college classes to reduce long travel for higher studies.
- The plan funds staffing, including 30 teacher posts and 25 multi‑purpose staff for the upgraded schools, plus 148 teaching posts for the new junior colleges.
- Government Polytechnic, Solapur will launch three degree programs in 2026–27 in AI and machine learning, computer science, and electronics and telecommunication with 60 seats each and funding of about Rs 157.66 crore over four years plus Rs 11 crore now.
- The cabinet also approved taking over Shri Tuljabhavani Engineering College in Tuljapur for conversion into a government college with a rename and new sanctioned teaching and non‑teaching posts.
