Maharashtra Announces Plan to Build 8 Lakh Affordable Homes in Five Years

- Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced that MHADA will construct 8 lakh affordable homes across Maharashtra over the next five years.
- The homes will cater to various income groups, including the Economically Weaker Section, Low Income Group, Middle Income Group, and High Income Group.
- The initiative will utilize multiple schemes such as Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) and cluster redevelopment projects, including Asia’s largest cluster redevelopment project in Thane.
- A recent lottery by MHADA’s Konkan Board offered 2,147 homes and 117 plots, receiving over 31,000 applications.
- Another housing lottery is planned within six months, providing additional opportunities for homebuyers.
