Overview
- The ACB caught two people in Thane on Monday accepting about Rs 77,300 to secure a Class 6 seat at a government-aided school and arrested them; the accused are named as Fatima Ansari and Chaitanya Pradhan.
- Also on Monday the bureau took Home Guard zonal officer Pradeep Vijay Nagpure into custody after investigators established he had demanded Rs 30,000 to recommend a jawan’s reinstatement even though he did not accept the cash during a trap.
- In a separate operation on Thursday the ACB arrested Akola sub-registrar Kiran Chaudhary after he was caught red-handed accepting Rs 10,000 to reduce stamp duty on a plot in the MIDC area.
- Each matter has been or will be registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act and is under formal probe after the ACB used verified complaints and planned trap operations to record demands or transactions.
- The cases highlight recurring vulnerabilities where intermediaries or officials can exploit routine public-service dealings and raise questions about oversight, public trust and the outcome of awaiting prosecutions.
