Overview
- Maha-Metro has formally submitted the Detailed Project Report for the 41 km Bhakti Shakti–Chakan elevated corridor to the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation.
- The corridor will run from Bhakti Shakti in Nigdi to Chakan via Wakad, Pimple Saudagar and Nashik Phata with 31 elevated stations at an estimated cost of Rs 10,383.89 crore.
- Planners project daily ridership of 3.38 lakh by 2031 rising to 7.81 lakh by 2061, aiming to serve roughly 75 percent of Pimpri-Chinchwad commuters.
- The DPR calls for three-car trains operating at up to 80 km/h, skywalk interchanges to existing Hinjewadi–Shivajinagar and Swargate–Pimpri Chinchwad lines, and a 12.04-hectare depot at Bhosari.
- The proposal now awaits technical review by PCMC and PMRDA, detailed land-acquisition planning and clearances from the Maharashtra and central governments before construction can begin.
