Overview
- The Maharashtra government approved the 31.64 km Phase II expansion in October and set its ₹9,897.19 crore budget before submitting it to the Union Cabinet in March.
- Phase II will add 28 elevated stations across two corridors: Kharadi to Khadakwasla via Hadapsar and Swargate, and Nal Stop to Manikbaug via Warje.
- Maha-Metro floated tenders in May for detailed design services at 14 elevated stations on the Kharadi–Khadakwasla route to fast-track project commencement post-approval.
- Work on the Swargate–Katraj underground extension is scheduled to start in July following an April tender revision, with five stations added and an extra ₹683 crore funded by Maharashtra.
- Pune MP Murlidhar Mohol met Union Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on May 30 to urge expedited cabinet clearance of key Metro extensions.
