Overview
- Taiwan’s weather agency reported a magnitude 7.0 quake at 11:05 p.m. local time about 32 km east of Yilan at roughly 73 km deep, while the USGS measured it at 6.6–6.7.
- Shaking reached intensity level 4 in Taipei, Yilan and Hualien, was felt across much of the island, and was reported as far as Hong Kong.
- No tsunami alert was issued for Taiwan as authorities continued assessments with no immediate reports of major damage or casualties.
