  • A magnitude 5.2 earthquake occurred at 2:30 am on May 24, 2025, in the remote Orana region of western New South Wales.
  • The mainshock was followed by a magnitude 4.2 aftershock seven minutes later and additional smaller tremors, including a magnitude 3.7 at 5:30 am.
  • Geoscience Australia received over 250 felt reports, with tremors reported up to 500 kilometers away in Sydney.
  • Despite widespread shaking that rattled windows and startled residents, no structural damage or injuries have been confirmed.
