Overview
- The Geophysical Institute of Peru reported a magnitude 3.5 earthquake at 16:40 local time with an epicenter 15 km west of Callao at a depth of 71 km.
- Shaking was felt at Mercalli intensity II–III in Callao and parts of Lima, according to the official bulletin IGP/CENSIS/RS 2025-0793.
- There were no immediate reports of significant damage in local coverage of the Saturday afternoon tremor.
- IGP data show a recent run of quakes nationwide ranging roughly from magnitude 3.7 to 5.3 from late November through early December.
- INDECI urged residents to review safety steps and keep an emergency backpack with water, food, medicines, ID, a flashlight and a battery-powered radio.
