Overview
- An independent magisterial inquiry has begun alongside a Mumbai Police Crime Branch probe into the Oct. 30 operation that freed 17 children and two adults and left Rohit Arya dead.
 - The Maharashtra State Human Rights Commission has ordered its Investigation Wing to examine the death and sought post-mortem, ballistics and inquiry records, noting a bullet injury on Arya’s chest.
 - A petition filed in the Bombay High Court by advocate Shobha Buddhivant seeks transfer of the case to the CBI, alleging a ‘fake encounter’ and questioning whether lethal force was necessary.
 - Assistant Police Inspector Amol Waghmare has stated he fired a single shot in self‑defence after Arya pointed a gun, which police later identified as an air gun, during the bathroom‑duct entry to the studio.
 - Crime Branch officers have recorded statements from hostages, the studio owner and Waghmare and say former education minister Deepak Kesarkar, whom Arya asked to speak with during negotiations, may also be examined.
