Magic: The Gathering Opens Preorders for Avatar: The Last Airbender Expansion Featuring Four New Bending Mechanics

The expansion follows a launch timeline beginning with an October 28 debut stream, continuing with mid-November prerelease events before its digital rollout on MTG Arena, then its tabletop arrival on November 21.

Overview

  • Four new bending mechanics map Avatar’s elemental arts to gameplay: airbending exiles and recasts permanents at reduced cost, earthbending animates lands into creatures with safeguards, firebending generates red mana during combat and waterbending taps creatures or artifacts to offset costs.
  • Playable cards highlight Aang, Zuko, Katara, Toph, Sokka and fan favourites like Appa, Momo and the Cabbage Merchant alongside returning MTG subtypes Allies, Lessons and Shrines.
  • Retailers including Amazon, Best Buy and local game stores now list preorders for a full product lineup spanning $6.99 play boosters to $109.99 Commander’s Bundles.
  • Collector boosters will include an exclusive borderless raised-foil Avatar Aang, neon-ink battle-pose variants, full-art Appa lands and elemental frame cards for collectors.
  • Wizards has set a launch timeline that kicks off with a debut stream on October 28, followed by a full card gallery on November 7, prerelease events November 14–20, an MTG Arena release November 18 and a tabletop debut on November 21.
