Overview

  • Tom Sawyer Island, the Rivers of America and the Liberty Square Riverboat will permanently close on July 6, 2025.
  • The new land—officially named Piston Peak National Park—will infuse Frontierland with a national park-themed version of Pixar’s Cars franchise.
  • Piston Peak will feature two original attractions—a high-speed off-road rally ride with an Audio-Animatronic Ranger J. Autobahn Woodlore narrator and a more family-friendly experience—housed in rustic park-style lodges.
  • Imagineers are using parkitecture to hide the Cars setting from key vantage points and blend expansive waterfalls, rivers, geysers and snowy peaks into the existing landscape.
  • The expansion is expected to be completed in 2028 or later and will be followed by a Villains Land slated for 2030 or beyond as part of Magic Kingdom’s largest transformation.
