Magdeburg Sets Brenneckestraße Ring Bridge Demolition for Oct. 20–25 as Ramp Closures Begin Oct. 13

The city is removing a span built with Hennigsdorfer prestressing steel following broader safety checks prompted by Dresden’s Carolabrücke collapse.

Overview

  • Ramp closures start Monday, Oct. 13 at 7:00, first toward the A2 and later inbound, with a section of the ring closed for about two weeks and a recommended bypass via the A14.
  • From Tuesday, Oct. 14, crews will build a sand fallbed beneath the span to catch debris and shield the road, sidewalks and utilities.
  • The main teardown is scheduled for the week of Oct. 20 with daytime work, aiming to finish by Oct. 25 within the two‑week work window.
  • Traffic on the Magdeburger Ring will divert via the off‑ and on‑ramps, with signed detours: inbound via Kirschweg, Leipziger Chaussee and Leipziger Straße to the Fermersleber Weg on‑ramp, outbound in reverse via Lemsdorfer Weg.
  • Brenneckestraße remains closed at the site; pedestrians and cyclists can use the bridge between Bodestraße and Goslarer Straße, and temporary bridges are planned for early November.
