Magdeburg, Chemnitz and Potsdam Roll Out New Road Closures for Utility and Repair Works This Week

Cities deploy detours, temporary traffic-rule changes, bus adjustments to manage disruptions.

Overview

  • Magdeburg will fully close the south section of Porsestraße in Buckau from 17 November until about 30 October 2026 for SWM line works, with traffic redirected via Schönebecker Straße.
  • In Magdeburg’s first phase, access to Basedowstraße is only from Klosterbergestraße as the one-way rule is lifted, and the Friedrich-List-Straße connection to Alt Fermersleben is closed with detours via Faulmannstraße and Ottersleber Straße.
  • Chemnitz will sectionally close Carl-Hamel-Straße from Monday through 19 December for district-heating connections, with a signed detour via Neefestraße, Südring and Straße Usti nad Labem.
  • Additional Chemnitz restrictions include carriageway limits on Leipziger Straße (Nos. 166–194) for manhole repairs until 24 November and a full closure on Unritzstraße from Thursday near the hospital approach.
  • Potsdam will shut Templiner Straße between Ulrich-von-Hutten- and Leiterstraße from Friday 18:00 to Saturday 18:00 for pavement work, affecting Caputh bus service, while ongoing bottlenecks persist on Nutheschnellstraße, Leipziger Dreieck and Schloßstraße.
