MAGA Convoy Led by Joshua Macias Heads to U.S.-Mexico Border Amid Tensions

Joshua Macias, a former Navy officer and co-founder of Veterans for Trump, who was acquitted of election interference but in 2023 sentenced to two years of probation on weapons charges, is leading a MAGA convoy to the U.S.-Mexico border for a “peaceful” protest against the influx of migrants.
The convoy, named 'Take Our Border Back', invites “law abiding, freedom-loving Americans” to join them in border towns.
Since the convoy took off, participants have focused as much on the January 6 Capitol storming as they have on the border crisis.
The convoy's Telegram and Zello channels are filled with fear and paranoia that the protest could become “another J6 trap.”
The border-bound caravan arrives amid tensions between Texas and the federal government over the 47-acre Shelby Park in Eagle Pass, where the state has installed razor wire to stop migrants from entering the country.
