Overview

  • High-speed trains restarted around 17:00 on August 20 after ADIF confirmed the corridor now permits circulation.
  • Transport Minister Óscar Puente cited authorization to re-energize 30 km that had been de-tensioned under Protección Civil, with only one active fire focus near Vilariño earlier in the day.
  • Initial services include AVE departures from Madrid to A Coruña at 17:10 and 19:17 and AVLO at 18:06 to Vigo and 20:23 to A Coruña, with returns from Vigo at 17:25 and A Coruña at 19:33.
  • Renfe is running several special trains to re-accommodate part of the more than 70,000 affected passengers, with on-site rebooking under way at key stations.
  • The Monforte de Lemos–León section remains closed, and travelers report scarce rentals, full buses, costly flights, increased long-distance taxi use, and communication gaps during the disruption.
