Madrid Prosecutors Seek Prison Terms for Real Madrid Youth Players in Privacy Breach Case

The indictment requests two-and-a-half years for Raúl Asencio, four-years-and-seven-months terms for his former teammates, six-year restraining orders and compensation claims.

Overview

  • The charges stem from a June 2023 incident in Mogán, Gran Canaria where intimate encounters with a 16-year-old and an 18-year-old were recorded and shared without consent.
  • Raúl Asencio faces two years and six months in prison for alleged distribution of a sexual video, while Andrés García, Ferrán Ruiz and Juan Rodríguez each face four years and seven months for recording and distributing child pornography.
  • Prosecutors also seek six-year prohibitions on approaching or contacting the victims, disqualification from passive suffrage for the duration of any sentence and compensation of €5,000 per victim for Asencio and €25,000 jointly for his ex-teammates.
  • According to the Madrid Prosecutor’s Office, the victims suffer post-traumatic stress disorder with anxious-depressive symptoms linked to the non-consensual recordings.
  • The case remains under judicial review in the Canary Islands and Real Madrid has not yet issued a public response.
