Overview
- Sunday’s main service is scheduled for 11:00 at the Almudena Cathedral, led by Cardinal José Cobo, with a procession to follow and attendance expected from Mayor José Luis Martínez‑Almeida and regional president Isabel Díaz Ayuso.
- More than 1,000 portions of the traditional Corona de la Almudena will be offered free to the public in Plaza Mayor in collaboration with ACYRE Madrid.
- The city’s program runs November 6–9 with 22 women‑led Patronas 2025 concerts across Madrid en Vivo venues, a gaita and dulzaina gathering on Paseo del Prado, castizo performances in Plaza Mayor, and an evening zarzuela recital at the Auditorio Sony.
- The Corona de la Almudena, created in 1978 by Madrid’s pastry guild, has become a hallmark of the feast and is being sold in bakeries citywide in multiple fillings.
- Bakeries are promoting the tradition with initiatives such as Turris offering a free corona to customers named Almudena on November 7–9 and an ASEMPAS contest naming Confitería Riojano, Formentor and Pastelería Mifer as makers of the best coronas.
