• Investigating judge Concepción Jerez of Juzgado de Instrucción nº 26 directed criminal action against six people identified by police for the New Year’s Eve effigy incident outside the PSOE headquarters.
• The six have been summoned to court on October 9, 2025 to receive the case file and to appoint counsel or request a public defender.
• Sección 30 of the Audiencia Provincial de Madrid partially upheld appeals by the Fiscalía and by Pedro Sánchez and the PSOE on June 30, concluding the conduct should be probed as threats.
• The Audiencia cited the violence of the images and numerous hostile chants, finding the effigy clearly represented the prime minister.
• Among those identified are one protest organizer and the person alleged to have brought the effigy and rigged it with a rope, and judges declined to shift the matter to the Audiencia Nacional.
