Overview
- The Consorcio Regional de Transportes de Madrid approved the extension on December 29 in a meeting chaired by regional official Miguel Ángel García Martín.
- The decision keeps in place the extraordinary subsidies introduced on July 1, 2025 across Metro, urban and interurban buses, and Metro Ligero.
- About six million users will continue under the same conditions from January 1, with free travel for children under 14 and for people aged 65 and over.
- Key 2026 prices include the youth pass (up to 26) at €10 per month, the Zone A pass at €32.70, and the 10-trip Zone A ticket at €7.30.
- The national 2026 scheme finances 20% of passes and multi-trip tickets and removes the previous requirement for communities and municipalities to provide a matching 20%.
