Overview

• On July 9, the court agreed to list TNSTC’s plea to modify its July 8 order barring state buses from Kappalur, Etturavattam, Salaipudhur and Nanguneri toll plazas starting July 10.
• AAG J. Ravindran told the bench he will press the transport department to resolve the disputed ₹276 crore in dues to four NHAI concessionaires.
• The arrears include a ₹116 crore principal balance plus penalties and interest after only ₹48.5 crore was paid.
• Justice N. Anand Venkatesh instructed the DGP and the Inspector General of Police (south zone) to deploy adequate officers at the four plazas to prevent unrest when the ban takes effect.
• The case originated from writ petitions by four private tollway operators alleging TNSTC’s failure to install Fastag and pay toll charges under a 2006 concession contract.
