Overview

  • Union minister Nitin Gadkari and Chief Minister Mohan Yadav inaugurated the 6.85–7 km Veerangana Rani Durgavati flyover, built for about Rs 1,200 crore in Jabalpur.
  • Alongside the launch, they inaugurated and laid foundations for nine road projects worth over Rs 4,250 crore, with Gadkari citing a broader pipeline of more than Rs 60,000 crore for the state.
  • Gadkari announced a 255 km, Rs 15,000 crore greenfield highway between Bhopal and Jabalpur, with the DPR targeted by December and land acquisition sought from next April or May.
  • He also cleared a Rs 5,500 crore four-lane ‘tiger corridor’ linking the Kanha, Bandhavgarh, Panna and Pench reserves to boost connectivity and tourism.
  • Gadkari proposed high-capacity, electric intercity buses being developed with Tata, describing trial use in Nagpur and positioning the project as a developing plan for expressway travel.
