Madhya Pradesh Transfers Rs235 Crore to 94,234 Class 12 Achievers; Top 15 Receive Laptops

Direct laptop provision will replace cash incentives from next year, reinforcing the government’s modernization drive.

Overview

  • On July 4, the state disbursed Rs 25,000 each to 94,234 Class 12 students who scored at least 75 percent in MPBSE exams, totaling over Rs 235 crore through direct bank transfers.
  • Chief Minister Mohan Yadav personally awarded laptops to the 15 highest scorers, whose marks ranged from 478 to 492 across science, commerce, arts, and mathematics streams.
  • Girls made up 60 percent of this year’s beneficiaries, while Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe students qualify under a reduced 65 percent threshold to broaden inclusion.
  • Since its launch in 2009–10, the Talented Students Incentive Scheme has supported 432,016 students with more than Rs 1,080 crore in total disbursements.
  • The government is expanding medical education to 50 colleges within two years and enhancing support for professional courses and tribal student facilities.
